Dr. Erich Ruetsche

Werdegang:

Erich Ruetsche leitet die IBM Corporate Technology & IP Organisation in EMEA, die bei IBM Research in Zürich angesiedelt ist. In dieser Funktion ist er für die Kommerzialisierung der IBM-Forschungstechnologie in der KI und das IBM Q Quantum Computing Network-Angebot verantwortlich. Darüber hinaus leitet er die Regierungspartnerschaften von IBM Research in Europa.
Er verfügt über eine starke Erfolgsbilanz bei der Entwicklung von Hightech-Unternehmen und der Gründung von öffentlich-privaten Partnerschaften für Informationstechnologie und Nanotechnologie in mehreren europäischen Ländern. In seiner vorherigen Karriere leitete er die Geschäftsentwicklung von IBM Research in Zürich, wo er in der Technologie- und Strategieberatung tätig war, und baute ein Startup-Unternehmen im Bereich IT-Sicherheit auf mehr als 50 Mitarbeiter aus.

Erich Ruetsche ist Elektoringenieur und Dr. sc. techn. Der ETH Zürich und hält ein MBA des Ashridge Management College (UK).

Dr. Erich Ruetsche

Career:

Erich Ruetsche is leading the IBM Corporate Technology & IP Organization in EMEA located at IBM Research in Zurich. In this function he is responsible for the commercialization of IBM Research technology in AI and the IBM Q Quantum Computing Network offering. He is also managing the government partnerships of IBM Research in Europe.
He has strong track record in developing high-tech businesses and setting up public- private partnerships for information technology and nanotechnology in several European countries. In his previous career he was leading business development for IBM Research in Zurich, working in technology and strategy consulting, and was growing a startup in IT security to more than 50 people.

Education:

Erich Ruetsche holds a Diploma and a PhD in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich and an MBA from Ashridge Management College (UK).

Jürg Fausch

Werdegang:

Jürg Fausch, 1964, ist Serial Entrepreneur und verfügt über mehr als 20 Jahre Erfahrung im Bank- und Versicherungsgeschäft, davon 8 Jahre in leitenden Positionen. Vor der Gründung der Swiss Innovation Valley AG, war Co-Founder und CEO der Firma Cashpooler AG (Fintech Unternehmen), Berater im Bereich Privat Banking und Corporate Finance und Generalagent. Er arbeitete für verschiedene Unternehmen in der Schweiz und im Fürstentum Liechtenstein (Credit Suisse, LGT, BPS, Generali).

Jürg Fausch, 1964, serial entrepreneur has over 20 years of experience in banking and insurance business (8 years in management positions). Before Swiss Innovation Valley AG, he was co-founder and CEO of Cashpooler AG (fintech company), advisor private banking, advisor corporate finance and director Swiss insurance company. He worked for various companies in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein (Credit Suisse, LGT, BPS, Generali).

Lic. iur. Christian Bärlocher, 1963, ist Rechtsanwalt und Compliance-Experte. Er hat 2015 seine eigene Firma (www.chbrcompliance.ch) gegründet und erbringt damit Dienstleistungen für Kunden aus der Finanz- und anderen Branchen. Seit 2016 ist er Legal- und Compliance Counsel des Innovation Labs Swiss Innovation Valley AG.
Christian hat davor mehr als 20 Jahre in Compliance- und Rechtsfunktionen in der IT/Telecom, Versicherungs- und Energiebranche gearbeitet. Dies unter anderem bei der Zurich Versicherungs-Gruppe, Repower AG und Sunrise Communications Group AG. Er verfügt zudem über 7 Jahre Erfahrung als Mitglied eines wirtschafts-orientierten Anwaltsbüros und führt und verwaltet seit mehr als 30 Jahren erfolgreich mehrere Stiftungen.

Lic. iur. Christian Bärlocher

Career:

Lic. iur. Christian Bärlocher, 1963, is a lawyer and compliance expert. He founded his own company (www.chbrcompliance.ch) in 2015. It provides services for customers from the financial and other sectors. Since 2016 he has been Legal and Compliance Counsel of the Innovation Lab Swiss Innovation Valley AG.
Christian previously worked for more than 20 years in compliance and legal functions in the IT / telecom, insurance and energy sectors, among others at Zurich Insurance Group, Repower AG and Sunrise Communications Group AG. He also has 7 years of experience as a member of a business-oriented law firm and has successfully led and managed several foundations for more than 30 years.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lechner

Werdegang:

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lechner, 1981, leitet eine Forschungsgruppe am Institut für Theoretische Physik an der Universität Innsbruck. Zudem ist er als Co-Founder bei der Firma parityqc in Innsbruck tätig.
Seine Forschungsgebiete umfassen Quanten Computing, Quanten Optimierung, Optomechanik mit levitierter Nanostruktur sowie Computer Physik. Durch seine Forschungsarbeit hat Wolfgang Lechner wichtige Erkenntnisse entwickelt und dafür verschiedene Auszeichnungen erhalten (Google Research Faculty Award, Housska Preis, Start Preis Austrian Science Fund, Wallnöfer Preis, Loschmidt Preis). Im Weiteren ist er Inhaber von drei internationalen Patenten.
Nebst der Betreuung von Diplom und PhD Studenten ist er im Weiteren als Referent bei verschiedenen Fachveranstaltungen aktiv.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lechner

Career:

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lechner, 1981, leads a research group at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Innsbruck. He is also a co-founder of the company parityqc in Innsbruck.
His research areas include quantum computing, quantum optimization, optomechanics with levitated nanostructure and computer physics. Through his research work Wolfgang Lechner has developed important insights and received several awards (Google Research Faculty Award, Housska Prize, Start Preis Austrian Science Fund, Wallnöfer Prize, Loschmidt Prize). He is holder of three international patents.
In addition to supervising diploma and PhD students, he is also active as a speaker at various professional events.

Dr. Jürgen Rahmel

Werdegang:

Dr. Rahmel erhielt seinen Doktorgrad für seine Forschung im Bereich Künstliche Intelligenz und Maschinelles Lernen, insbesondere im Bereich medizinischer Anwendung. Dr. Rahmel hat umfassende Erfahrung im internationalen Finanzsektor erworben. Er war in Rollen als Direktor / IT Leiter / Programm Manager für globale Initiativen multinationaler Banken erfolgreich. Er diente als "Head of Artificial Intelligence" im Applied Innovation Bereich der HSBC Hong Kong, sowie als Leiter für Innovation Qualitätsmanagement in allen Bereichen der FinTech-Technologien. Dr. Rahmel hat einen MBA in International Management und ist aktuell Chief Digital Officer der HSBC Deutschland. Im Weiteren ist er Dozent im Bereich Finanztechnologie an der Universität von Hongkong (HKU).

PhD Jürgen Rahmel

Career:

Dr. Rahmel received his PhD (Artificial Intelligence) in Germany for research covering Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, especially in medical applications. Dr. Rahmel has gained extensive experience in the international financial sector, in roles as Director, Head of IT and Programme Manager of global initiatives for multinational banks. He further served as the Head of Artificial Intelligence in the Applied Innovation Team of HSBC Hong Kong as well as Head of Innovation Quality management for all areas of FinTech technologies. He holds an MBA in International Management and currently is Chief Digital Officer of HSBC Germany. He also lectures on Financial Technology at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Asst. Prof. Dr. Florian Neukart

Werdegang:

Dr. Florian Neukart, 1982, ist der Direktor des Volkswagen Group Data Lab und Assistenzprofessor für Quantum Computing an der Universität Leiden. Vor seiner jetzigen Tätigkeit hat er die Volkswagen Group Advanced Technologies bei der Volkswagen Group of America in San Francisco gegründet und geleitet, und war Chief Technology Officer des Volkswagen Group Data Lab in München. Zudem ist er in diversen Beiräten und Gremien vertreten, unter anderem im Expertenrat zu Quantum Computing der deutschen Bundesregierung und dem Global Future Council on Quantum Computing des World Economic Forum. Er hat zahlreiche wissenschaftliche und populärwissenschaftliche Beiträge in den Bereichen der angewandten Mathematik und Informatik – insbesondere um Quantum Computing und der künstlichen Intelligenz – geleistet, darunter Bücher zur Zukunft der künstlichen Intelligenz und Energienutzung.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Florian Neukart

Career:

Dr. Florian Neukart, 1982, is the Director of the Volkswagen Group Data Lab and an Assistant Professor for Quantum Computing at the University of Leiden. Before his current position, he founded and managed the Volkswagen Group Advanced Technologies at the Volkswagen Group of America in San Francisco and was Chief Technology Officer of the Volkswagen Group Data Lab in Munich. He also is on various advisory boards and bodies, including the Expert Council on Quantum Computing of the German Federal Government and the Global Future Council on Quantum Computing of the World Economic Forum. He has made numerous scientific and popular science contributions in applied mathematics and computer science - particularly quantum computing and artificial intelligence - including books on the future of artificial intelligence and energy use.

Dr. Katja Bühler

Werdegang:

Dr. Katja Bühler, 1969, ist Bereichsleiterin Complex Systems und Forschergruppen-leiterin Biomedical Image Informatics, sowie ab 2021 Wissenschaftliche Leiterin des VRVis Forschungszentrum in Wien. Schwerpunkte Ihrer Arbeit liegen in der Informationsgewinnung aus Bilddaten und die damit verbundene Methoden-entwicklung in den Bereichen Deep und Machine Learning, Data Mining, Data Fusion, sowie der Entwicklung von Plattformen zur interaktiven Datenexploration. Katja Bühler arbeitet in ihren Projekten in enger Kooperation mit internationalen Firmenpartnern. Ihr Arbeiten sind in zahlreichen Publikationen und internationalen Patenten dokumentiert. Zusätzlich ist sie als Expertin für Emerging Technologies, Forschungsinfrastruktur und Flagship Projekte für die EU tätig. Sie ist Mitglied des Management Boards von Austrian Bioimaging und regelmässig als Gastlektorin an Universitäten und FHs tätig. Katja Bühler wurde im Jahre 2020 mit dem Frauenpreis der TU Wien ausgezeichnet.

Dr. Katja Bühler

Career:

Dr. Katja Bühler, 1969, is Head of Complex Systems and Head of Research Group Biomedical Image Informatics, and from 2021 Scientific Director of the VRVis Research Center in Vienna. Her work focuses on information retrieval from image data and the related method development in the areas of deep and machine learning, data mining, data fusion, as well as the development of platforms for interactive data exploration. Katja Bühler works in her projects in close cooperation with international company partners. Her work is documented in numerous publications and international patents. In addition, she is an expert for emerging technologies, research infrastructure and flagship projects for the EU. She is a member of the Management Board of Austrian Bioimaging and regularly works as a guest lecturer at universities and universities of applied sciences. Katja Bühler was awarded the Women's Prize of the Vienna University of Technology in 2020.
